POOLBAG XL para entrenamiento funcional acuático

POOLBAG: when water becomes a load that never stays still

A dumbbell keeps the same weight and its centre of gravity remains in a predictable position. Inside a POOLBAG, water shifts whenever the user accelerates, stops, turns or changes the position of the equipment. That seemingly simple difference transforms the way a session can be programmed.

The challenge is not only to move a load. Users must also follow its movement, regain control and maintain an orderly technique. For a coach, this response from the liquid load creates new possibilities without filling the pool with different machines.

Aquatic functional training with POOLBAG

Three variables for creating progressions

POOLBAG has several handles and allows the water volume to be adjusted. From there, the instructor can organise the difficulty through three easy-to-understand variables:

  • Volume: change the amount of water in line with the manufacturer’s instructions and the aim of the activity.
  • Grip: change hand position to introduce bilateral movements, carries or pushing and pulling actions.
  • Pace: slow execution makes learning easier; changes of speed make the movement of the water inside the bag more noticeable.

A progression should not be based on increasing all three variables at once. It is clearer to change one, observe the participant’s response and keep the others stable.

Control first, speed later

Before looking for intensity, introduce the equipment outside the pool or in a stable area. Participants should identify the handles, understand how to hold it and calmly rehearse the movement path.

In the water, the first task can be as simple as holding POOLBAG in front of the body while moving in a controlled way. Pauses, changes of direction or pushing and pulling movements selected by the professional leading the session can then be introduced.

When the liquid load begins to move, posture and control are more important than completing a large number of repetitions. If technique becomes untidy, reducing the pace or simplifying the range of motion creates a more useful progression than pushing on.

User training with POOLBAG in a swimming pool

A circuit with an easy-to-follow logic

In a group class, POOLBAG can be used as a functional training station alongside aquatic movement, bodyweight exercises or other equipment at the facility. The important point is for every station to have a recognisable instruction.

A simple structure can alternate four intentions: carry, stabilise, push or pull, and rotate in a controlled way. The instructor chooses the specific exercises, duration and rest periods according to the group. Participants therefore understand what to do and the equipment does not become a distraction.

The changeover between users should also be planned: a place to set the equipment down, a quick closure check and a clear instruction for the next grip. These small details maintain the flow of the class and help care for the equipment.

The same equipment does not mean the same session

Two participants can use a POOLBAG and receive different tasks. One may work through a short, slow range of motion; another may use a larger movement or an additional transition. Variation comes from programming, not from improvising during class.

This flexibility also makes it possible to renew an activity without changing all the equipment. One week can focus on controlling the load in front of the body, another on carries and another on sequences connecting several positions. The coaching team maintains a clear objective while users experience variety.

What to observe to improve the next class

After the session, asking whether it was difficult is not enough. It is more useful to observe whether participants understood the grips, whether transitions flowed smoothly, which movements needed more explanation and whether the selected volume allowed them to maintain control.

Using these notes, the instructor can adjust the next class: simplify a station, extend familiarisation time or prepare different levels of the same task. POOLBAG therefore becomes a programming tool, not merely an eye-catching accessory.

A living load for a more dynamic pool

The water inside POOLBAG responds to every movement. That is its defining quality: it demands attention, offers different grip options and enables progressions to be built without losing sight of movement quality.

For sports facilities, hotels, spas or private pools, it is a compact way to expand an aquatic functional training programme.
